  Hi Mr. Panozzo!
Am now leaving in Seattle, you were my division teacher while I was at Fenger. A friend saw your concert in Wenatchee, last night, (2/1/2011), sent pictures, too. He's a big fan!

Best,

Janet (Berry) Winchell

I am about finnished with your book, heart felt story, it makes me laugh at times and makes me cry. I have a friend who is my best friend in the world ( I too, hate the term Fag Hag very much, it is an ignorant word!) I have known for 32 years now and he has become over the years who I feel is more like a brother I have never had than a friend. I am a straight female and he is gay and always had a struggle trying to accept himself. I been thru alot with him, thru is attempts of susicide and deep depression, I am going to let him read your book, I know it will inspire him to finally accept himself and stop feeling guilty for being who he is...ect... thank you for writing your story and I hope nothing but total bliss the rest of your life, I too am Catholic and I am glad to say here in Louisville where I was baptized a long time ago St Williams Church accepts gays to come to mass. Anyway, Love your style, I love bass, try to play myself and it is hard! I admire you so much on so many levels, god bless you!

  Hi Chuck Panozzo,
I'd like to let you know how you inspired me to start my band when I first met you at Fenger high school. You were my art teacher and you had us design a kite. I drew my fender strat (Sears version) with wings on the kite which prompted you to tell me about your band, which the card you showed me resembled the Beatles and you weren't called Styx. You went on to tell me to stay with music and pursue my dreams. Thank you for that, I'm still having fun in it.
Peace
Al Bullitt

Chuck, I started listening to Styx when I was just a teenager, but it wasn't until I watched Behind the Music last night that I learned your story. Or maybe I just starting looking now. I am 49, came out to myself about a year ago. You're story of how you felt growing up is so similar to mine. I have gone as far as building a support network and getting counseling. I am working through my feelings, as I have learned that being GLBT is a lot broader than most people think - you have to define yourself and where you fit. My next big step is coming out to my family, as to the outside world I am a normal middle aged married man. Probably the scariest thing I will ever do, but you held your life in secret for a long time to, and it had to take an incredible amount of courage to come out publicly like you did. I hope that if I continue to read stories like yours I will finally find the courage to come out. Thanks for sharing your story - it's an inspiration.

I've been listening to Styx since Equinox came out. I was a closeted teenager and even now as an out gay man since 1984, I've always felt like the odd one out. I've always been a rocker, I didn't fit in with the rock guys cuz I was gay and I didn't fit in with the gays because I was a rocker. Strange place to be, but now at 48 years old...almost 49, I'm really okay with being the "unique" guy. I like me, I'm glad I'm not a cookie cutter.
At any rate, I'm so glad you're out and doing all you do, I just bought the book so looking forward to get to know you better...sorry, I don't have a book so it's not a two way street...LOL!

  Chuck,
I am 23 years old but ever since I could remember I was a styx fan. My Father and I still put come sail away on repeat in the car. That song honestly bonded us and when he had a stroke a few months ago it kept me strong.Growing up I never knew how much one day i would be able to relate to you, but in April of 2010 I was also diagnosed with HIV. I find so much strength in you. I have taken on an activist roll in my community and have struggled within myself to disclose or not to disclose. I have slowly started to mainly because I know that it will help stop the sigma and help end silence. I realized its bigger than me.I think its very important for people to stand up and say " I have HIV and I am going to be okay". You put all the feelings aside about how other people may treat you though you are under a light constantly. You did something that will change the way the whole country thinks about HIV. For that I will always be thankful towards you. (and of course your music):) Tons of love Lisa Marie
